A downloadable game

War has engulfed the Four Kingdoms. The entire world is a battlefield, filled with their armies trapped in endless battle. Only the Jenerals (that’s Generals with a “J”) can put an end to the fighting...

Jeneral War is an easy to setup and easy to play strategy puzzle game using a standard 52-card deck (without the jokers).

Simply lay out the cards in a 4x12 grid, keeping the Jacks as your starting hand, and work your way across the battlefield by flipping the cards in turn. Starting in any valid corner and moving orthogonally, you will encounter Light Troops (Numbers 2-5) and Heavy Troops (Numbers 6-10), recruit Advisors (Aces), capture Queens, and control Kings. Control all the Kings to turn the tide of war! Think of it as a cross between Regicide and Snake (yes the Nokia 3210 game).

A perfect victory may not always be possible, but each King in your hand at the end of the game ensures 50 years of peace.

The download includes a single page PDF of the instructions, as well as a text version. Now also includes the instructions in zine format! All you need is a deck of cards and a reasonably sized area to play.

Thanks for playing!

Spent an evening with 'Jeneral War' last night and really enjoyed it - thank you!

My top takeaway? PLAN YOUR FIRST CORNER SELECTION! I suppose as a commander going into battle I should have known not just to run straight into the fray, but after selecting a corner at random, I soon learnt my campaign was doomed from the start!

What I didn't expect with this game was to be surveying the board and planning my moves so far in advance. I soon had my partner popping over my shoulder suggesting different routes. Once I had my path, I stormed forward, completing several battles in quick succession, before taking stock of my new current position!

A fantastic "battlefield" style game, with loads of potential to be expanded, themed and built upon!

In addition, really nicely designed sheet, with clear and concise instructions!

Thank you!

Reading this has really made my day, so thank you for taking the time to play and provide your feedback. It really means the world!

And yes that first corner is crucial! Forward planning is a must!
